List of Futurama episodes

The box of the complete Futurama DVD collection (United Kingdom release) before its 2008 renewal.

Futurama is an American animated science fiction sitcom created by Matt Groening for the Fox Broadcasting Company. The series follows the adventures of a late 20th-century New York City pizza delivery boy, Philip J. Fry, who, after being unwittingly cryogenically frozen for a thousand years, finds employment at Planet Express, an interplanetary delivery company in the retrofuturistic 31st-century.

In the United States, the series aired from March 28, 1999 to August 10, 2003 on Fox before ceasing production. Futurama was then aired in reruns on Adult Swim on Cartoon Network, from January 2003 to December 2007, when the network's contract expired. It was revived in 2007 as four straight-to-DVD films; the last of the four was released in early 2009. Comedy Central entered into an agreement with 20th Century Fox Television to syndicate the existing episodes and air the films as 16 new, half-hour episodes.[1][2] Comedy Central began airing Futurama on January 2, 2008, with new episodes starting on March 23, 2008.[3] On June 9, 2009, 20th Century Fox announced that Comedy Central will broadcast 26 new half-hour episodes, which began airing on June 24, 2010.[4]

Since its debut on March 28, 1999, Futurama has broadcast 101 episodes and aired thirteen episodes from its sixth season in 2010. The remaining thirteen episodes will be broadcast in 2011.[5]

Futurama was originally produced as four seasons; Fox broadcast it out of the intended order resulting in five seasons. This list features episode in original production order, as featured on the DVD box sets.

Specials

The Futurama video game was released the same month as the airing of the 72nd episode in August 2003. It contains a half hour of cut scenes that were meant to serve as "the 73rd episode of the original series," according to David X. Cohen. The scenes tell of how the Planet Express crew prevent Mom from using Earth to take over the universe.[33] Renamed Futurama: The Lost Adventure, the episode appeared as a bonus on the DVD release of The Beast with a Billion Backs.
